Beautifully hand carved statue of indigenous women. Created by Pat Elvins and in collaboration with Pat McMahon, this piece was inspired by Pat's time in Alice Springs. THis unique and rare piece is on excellent condition and measures 6cm high.

Pat Elvins (1922-2011) studied art at the Gordon Technical School, Geelong, and the Melbourne Technical College with the intention of becoming a potter but then became interested in modelling in clay. After a year-long working holiday in Alice Springs, she spent a year working as a designer of animal figurines for Darbyshire Pottery in WA. When Darbyshire closed down in 1956, she spent time in Canberra as a clerical worker before returning to Alice Springs with the idea of setting up her own gallery there and making Aboriginal figurines and heads for the souvenir trade.
