Staffordshire Begging Spaniel Toby Jug c 1850

An English Staffordshire Begging Spaniel Jug dated around 1850. Beautifully handcrafted from soft paste clay and produced by the Staffordshire potters. This particular spaniel is called a red and white spaniel.

Carefully painted black whiskers, a black nose and a brown mouth. The eyes are yellow and black. There is black at the end of the paws. There is a gold line at the neck to show a collar and tag. The top resembles a tricorn hat, a style worn during this time period and there are red berries and green leaves.

There is a lot of crazing but no chips or cracks. Measures 26cm high.
